Junior Golf

We have a very active Junior Golf  program at Trump National. Activities include our popular junior golf clinics, weekly golf schools, and Adult/Child tournaments, which are always a hit.

Trump National professionals provide meaningful instruction to our junior golfers, teaching the rules and etiquette of the game, but more importantly, they create an atmosphere of fun and good sportsmanship.  Our junior program attracts over 150 kids yearly with a variety of activities available for all ages and skill levels.  New this year are On Course Playing Clinics held on Fridays and Trump's Big Break Challenge held in June.

The Junior Golf Program at Trump is based off the successful U.S. Kids Program and consists of three levels of instructional booklets that provide young players with the roadmap for success in learning to play golf.  Every level includes instruction and check points in five areas: Putting, Around the Green, Full Swing, Knowledge and Scoring.  Skills and correct forms are taught in putting, chipping, pitching, bunkers and full swing.  Achievement pins are earned each time a junior completes a section of the book and certificates are given out when a junior advances to the next level.

Level One:
For kids four or older who are ready for structured kid-friendly learning of the game.  Juniors will play from the level 1 family tees.

Level Two:
For kids who have passed Level 1 and can shoot a score of 72 or better for 9 holes from the Level 1 tees.  Juniors will play from the Level 2 family tees.

Level Three:
For juniors who have passed Level 2 and can shoot a score of 63 or better from the Level 2 tees.  Juniors will play from the yellow tees and can participate in the interclub.

Family Tees

Last year we introduced the family tees on the River Course.  Family tees are for juniors and beginners.  Distances are shorter than our forward tees to help speed up play and make golf fun.  Family Tee Markers are aligned on the fairway closest to the cart path.  Please pick up a scorecard from the starter if playing from these tees.

Junior Golf Conditioning

Titleist Performance Institute is the foremost leader in the world for fitness as it relates to the golf swing.  TPI has studied PGA Professionals and amateurs the past 10 years and have noticed that juniors develop into better golfers when they are athletic and have cooridnation skills.  There are 12 components that make up the Junior TPI Cyclone which focus on speed and athletic development.  Each clinic and golf school will incorporate a golf fitness activity.  Some of the activities include ladder runs, ball tosses, using a balance beam and throwing frisbees.  TPI believes that kids are turned into athletes first and golfers second.

Clinics (ages 4-17)

Each week, your junior will receive instruction about fundamentals of golf, knowledge and etiquette.  Juniors will be grouped according to age but will work on their individual booklet.  Clinics are 45 minutes and are limited to 8 juniors each session.  There will be a 4:1 student teacher ratio.  Parents will need to sign up their junior for each clinic.

Little Linksters:   (ages 4-8)    Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-4:45pm
This class is a fun introduction to the game of golf for our youngest golfers.  Juniors will be using the U.S. Kids booklets (level 1and 2).  Instruction will include the fundamentals as well as golf fitness and other golf related activities.

The Chippers:   (ages 8-13)    Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-5:45pm
These clinics are a bit more challenging than the Little Linksters.  Juniors will continue to use the U.S. Kids booklets (levels 2-3) and play will be from the Level 2 tees and the most forward tee markers.  Juniors will learn to carry their clubs and keep score on the golf course.

Flop Shots:   (ages 13+)    Wednesdays, 5-5:45pm
These clinics are for the skilled junior golfer that can play 9 or 18 holes and is ready for competitive golf.  Juniors will have passed the majority of the Level 3 U.S. Kids Program.  Juniors will learn how to practice properly, develop a handicap and learn golf course management.

On Course Clinics:   (ages 6-17)   Fridays, 4:30-6:00pm
These clinics are designed to take the junior on the course.  Juniors must have participated in either a clinic or golf school prior to registering for these clinics. Juniors will learn course management, rules and etiquette while playing a few holes.

Junior Golf School

Our Golf Schools will cover the game of golf in one week following the U.S. Kids program while incorporating golf fitness from the Titleist Performance Institute.  Juniors will have fun learning the fundamentals of golf including putting, short game, full swing, etiquette and knowledge.  Your child will also have the opportunity to take what they have learned to the course at the end of the week.    Each session will vary from 2 to 3 hours each day and will have a 4:1 student teacher ratio.  For more information, or to sign up, please call the golf shop.
